Bonggu
When Bonggu, a 12 year-old Chihuahua Mix first presented to our Long Island City location, it was clear that something was terribly wrong with his right eye. His symptoms were indicative of a severe issue, and a thorough examination by Dr. Ashley Zibura revealed that Bonggu was suffering from a severe, infected, and melting corneal ulcer in his right eye.
In order to alleviate his pain and address his condition, Bonggu underwent a surgical procedure known as a conjunctival pedicle graft.
This intricate surgery involves the placement of a graft that not only provides a healthy blood supply to the affected area but also offers crucial structural support to aid in the healing process.
As time passed, and both the graft and his cornea have fully healed, the graft has gradually thinned, allowing for improved detailed vision for Bonggu. Though his vision through the graft might be slightly blurry, the graft allowed for remarkable improvement.
