Bella
Bella, a 2 year old Chow Chow, initially came to our Long Island City location due to severe squinting, excessive tearing, painful eyes, and a noticeable decline in her vision.
Upon thorough examination by Dr. Zibura, Bella's condition was diagnosed as entropion, a condition characterized by the inward rolling of the upper and lower eyelids in both eyes. In addition to entropion, Bella was also battling severe corneal ulcers. These ulcers are painful wounds that form on the surface of the eyes, a direct consequence of her entropion. Given the degree of pain she was experiencing and the severity of her eye issues, the team at the Veterinary Eye Center recognized the urgency of Bella's situation and scheduled her for surgery the very next day.
The surgical procedure involved correcting the positioning of both upper and lower eyelids to resolve the entropion.
To protect her delicate corneas during the healing process, bandage contact lenses were carefully placed in both eyes. These lenses played a crucial role in her recovery, ensuring that her corneas remained safe and free from further damage.
Over the course of a few weeks, she received topical antibiotic eye medications that facilitated the healing process. The Veterinary Eye Center Team is happy to report that Bella's eyelids and corneas healed exceptionally well, and her eye pain gradually dissipated. Most importantly, her vision improved significantly compared to her pre-surgery state. Bella’s owner is thrilled with Bella's healing and is very grateful to Dr. Zibura and the VEC team for taking such good care of Bella.
